Portsmouth v Wolverhampton Wanderers Live

Portsmouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers meet at Fratton Park on Saturday afternoon in a game which has very little at stake. Pompey have already suffered relegation to the Championship after a dismal campaign on and off the field while Wolves, under Mick McCarthy, have surprised many by securing their position in the Premier League following their title-winning promotion last year. Portsmouth manager Avram Grant may opt to ring the changes for the hosts as they prepare to take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final next month. Their unlikely run to the showpiece event has given their troubled fans something to cheer as they get set for a spell in the second tier next season. Pompey have failed to win in their previous six league outings, collecting just three draws in the process. Wolves on the other hand have lost just once in eight matches, and that came in heartbreaking fashion at Arsenal. Nicklas Bendtner grabbed a last-gasp winner for the Gunners on April 3 but it has done little to dampen spirits at the Molineux-based club and they secured their Premier League status for another season with last weekend's 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers. The unfortunate Michael Kightly is McCarthy's only injured player for the clash and he misses out with a persistent foot injury. Pompey will be without Danny Webber (knee) and Hermann Hreidarsson (Achilles) while Nadir Belhadj (thigh) and Tal Ben Haim (groin) are big doubts for the south coast outfit. Earlier this season, Portsmouth registered their first win of the Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win in the Midlands on October 3. Algeria international Hassan Yebda was the hero of the hour as he headed home the winner in the opening 20 minutes. You have to go back to the 2003-04 season to find the last time the two sides met in the league when the two teams played out two uneventful goalless draws in the Premier League with Wolves ultimately suffering relegation at the end of the campaign.
