The boy Dunne good for Pompey

Portsmouth expect James Dunne to be fit for the visit of Southend.

Midfielder Dunne made his first start since November in the 1-1 draw with Burton last weekend following a knee injury, and lasted 73 minutes before going off after taking a whack to his ankle.

Striker Tom Craddock is edging closer to a return from his long-term knee problem but midfielder Wes Fogden (knee) remains sidelined.

On-loan West Ham forward Paul McCallum made his debut as a late substitute against Burton and is pushing for a place in the starting line-up.

Southend will be without Gary Deegan after he was sent off last weekend.

Deegan was dismissed after just 33 minutes of the 3-2 win at Oxford, following two yellow cards, and the midfielder will serve a one-match suspension. Defender Cian Bolger will complete his four-game ban.

Meanwhile, Shrimpers boss Phil Brown will face no further punishment after he was sent to the stands at the Kassam Stadium for allegedly gesturing towards the home supporters.

Centre-half Adam Barrett, who returned to the club last week, could come into contention after a calf injury ruled him out against the U's while winger Kevan Hurst, who has missed the last four matches with a hamstring problem, is also nearly fit again.
