Davies out for Pompey

Portsmouth will be without injured defender Ben Davies for their home game against Morecambe.

Davies sustained a hamstring injury in the goalless draw at Crawley in midweek and will play no part. Gareth Evans switched to right-back in his absence, but Adam Webster is also a temporary option for boss Paul Cook.

Midfielder Kal Naismith remains sidelined with the thigh injury that has delayed the start of his season, while Adam McGurk and Conor Chaplin are both pushing for a place in the starting line-up.

Pompey, fifth in the table, are chasing a third straight home win this season.

Jamie Devitt is expected to return to the Morecambe squad after he was rested against Wycombe in midweek.

The winger, who played under Portsmouth manager Paul Cook at Chesterfield, could even go straight back into Jim Bentley's starting line-up.

Adam Dugdale and Tom Barkhuizen returned to the bench on Tuesday night after injury, with the latter getting on as a substitute midway through the second half, so boss Bentley now has options at his disposal.

However, captain Peter Murphy is out for the long term with the knee injury he suffered at Hartlepool on the opening day of the season.
