Conor Chaplin to feature in Portsmouth's clash with Colchester

Portsmouth boss Paul Cook has confirmed that Conor Chaplin will feature against Colchester as his side search for their first win of the 2016-17 League Two campaign.

The 19-year-old striker was not named in Pompey's squad which lost at Morecambe in midweek due to a slight calf strain, but he will be involved on Saturday.

Jack Whatmough's knee injury suffered at Crewe is not as serious as once feared but he remains sidelined. Adam Barton looks set to deputise in the central defender's place.

Pompey are still without Matt Clarke (groin), Ben Close (hamstring) and Brandon Haunstrup (collarbone).

Colchester will again be without without midfielder Owen Garvan due to a leg injury.

Although Garvan returned to play for the U's Under-23 side against Hull on Monday night, he will not be rushed back into the first team by boss John McGreal.

Goalkeeper Sam Walker should continue in the team having recovered from a hand injury, so McGreal could again name an unchanged XI after back-to-back wins.

Left-back Matt Briggs is still sidelined with a hip problem.
