Taylor back in Pompey frame

Ryan Taylor could return to the Portsmouth squad for the visit of Cheltenham.

Taylor has sat out the last three matches with a groin injury but is back in training and will be assessed ahead of the clash.

Fellow forward Michael Drennan and full-back Daniel Alfei are back after missing Monday's goalless draw at Chesterfield while they were on international duty with the Republic of Ireland Under-21s and Wales Under-21s respectively.

But defender Danny East (ankle) and midfielder Simon Ferry (back) are still struggling with injuries and will not be available.

Byron Harrison will hope to earn a recall for Cheltenham.

Harrison climbed off the bench to net his 12th goal of the season against Bury last weekend having been dropped by manager Mark Yates after their fiery discussion in the aftermath of last Tuesday's 4-1 thrashing by Chesterfield.

Yates recalled the experienced Jamie Cureton to the side in place of Harrison and has a decision to make ahead of the Fratton Park trip.

Defender Troy Brown is one player who looks set to keep his place having recovered from an ankle injury to return to the starting line-up against the Shakers.
