Chorley back for Pompey

Ben Chorley returns to the Portsmouth squad for the visit of Bristol Rovers.

The centre-half has completed a four-match ban after he was sent off for the second time this season against York last month.

Simon Ferry misses out after suffering a recurrence of his back injury against Dagenham last week but fellow midfielders Wes Fogden (knee) and Romain Padovani (calf) could return.

Winger Andy Barcham remains sidelined by a thigh problem and striker Ryan Bird has a groin injury.

Rovers are waiting on three players ahead of the trip to the south coast.

Darrell Clarke hopes Michael Smith and Danny Woodards, the goalscorer in last weekend's 2-1 home defeat to Torquay, will be able to shake off minor injuries to line up against Pompey while striker Chris Beardsley is struggling with an on-going knee problem and is far less likely to feature.

Winger Fabian Broghammer could be named in a first-team squad for the first time this season after recovering from a serious knee injury. The German looked set to be on the bench against the Gulls until his knee flared up in the build up to kick-off.

The Pirates are just one point above the relegation zone and face a real fight to retain their Football League status.
