After Tony Adams was sacked as Portsmouth manager on Monday, Eriksson has been strongly linked with the post along with former Chelsea boss Avram Grant. [LNB]Portsmouth have reportedly asked the Mexican federation for permission to speak to Eriksson, but it appears the Swede is determined to remain in his current post. [LNB]Eriksson is currently preparing Mexico for the opening game of the final round of World Cup qualifiers against the USA in Columbus. [LNB]"I always said I have contract until 2010, after the World Cup. In football, you never know what will happen but I have a contract and I want to win tomorrow. I have always said that Mexico will be in South Africa," said Eriksson. [LNB]"It's very important to start winning but I don't think that my future depends on getting a good result tomorrow, life will go on. If we lose, we will have nine more games to qualify to the World Cup. But I repeat: I'm not thinking about a defeat." [LNB]Chelsea are also in the search for a new manager following the departure of Luiz Felipe Scolari also on Monday, although Russia coach Guus Hiddink has started negotiations over taking charge until the end of the season. [LNB]Eriksson did confirm Chelsea's Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich does have his phone number, [LNB]"I know he has my number and I certainly haven't spoken with him," added Eriksson. [LNB]After England were knocked out of the 2006 World Cup, a year later Eriksson took over as Manchester City boss prior to the start of the 2007/08 season. [LNB]But he lasted just one season in charge and on June 2 last year left City by "mutual consent" before being named as Mexico manager just a day later. [LNB]
