Portsmouth target Sven Goran Eriksson staying with Mexico despite defeat

Fighting on: Sven has been told his job his safe[LNB] The president of the Mexican Football Federation Justino Compean said Sven Goran Eriksson will remain in charge of the national team. [LNB]Compean questioned the Swede's tactics during talks which followed the 2-0 defeat to the United States in a World Cup qualifier. [LNB]But Compean said: 'I completely support Mr Eriksson. We have a commitment to be in South Africa and we will be in South Africa.' [LNB]The defeat came in the first match of the CONCACAF zone's final qualifying round, which involves six teams playing home and away in a round-robin format. [LNB]Compean said: 'There are 30 points (to play for). It hurts a lot to lose, of course, for all the fans, players, our families, etc.' [LNB]Eriksson, who has been linked with the vacant manager's post at Portsmouth, said: 'I want to continue. I have a contract and I want to fulfil it. I am a man with courage and I am not going to walk away.
