Portsmouth seek to head off Blackpool and Wigan by offering new deal to David Nugent

Portsmouth are desperate to stop David Nugent making a belated return to the Barclays Premier League with Blackpool or Wigan by tying him to a new contract.

The former England striker was courted by both clubs in the summer but has opened talks over extending his stay at Fratton Park.
