Portsmouth have confirmed that their players have finally been paid their wages for September. Saudi property magnate Ali Al Faraj yesterday completed a takeover of the club after Sulaiman Al Fahim agreed to end his short-lived ownership, and has promptly moved to clear the outstanding wages and bonuses. Al Fahim endured a disastrous tenure at Fratton Park, with the club rooted bottom of the Premier League with just one win, and proved unable to provide the necessary funding to pay both Pompey's players and members of the executive board. A statement from the club said: 'Contracts were signed between the parties on Monday to enable funds to be released to pay the players and executive board on Tuesday.' Ukraine v England Under the terms of Al Faraj's takeover, Al Fahim will retain a 10 per cent stake in the club and be granted the title of non-executive chairman.
