Ivory Coast coach Vahid Halilhodzic is reportedly in talks to become Portsmouth's next manager. The Bosnian is said to have been in contact with the Fratton Park hierarchy for the last four weeks and was due to meet officials in Paris to discuss a three-year contract. The 56-year-old former Paris Saint-Germain boss is understood to havewarned his Ivory Coast paymasters he may be about to leave followingtheir World Cup qualifying victory over Burkina Faso on Saturday. He will explore the possibility of combining the jobs, but would be willing to walk away from the Ivorians to take over from Paul Hart despite being in the post for just 12 months. 'Anything could happen. It is true that I am in the negotiations, but I can't say more than that at the moment,' he said recently. 'I want to work in the English Premier League, which is strongest in the world. That would be a big challenge for me. 'I have had offers from France, England, Greece and Switzerland.' It is unclear whether Portsmouth's prospective new owner Sulaiman Al Fahim has sanctioned the appointment.
