Portsmouth duo David Nugent and Marc Wilson have 'bust up' as club plight darkens

Nugent, who cost £6 million from Preston North End, and midfielder Wilson are reported to have squared up to each other following Portsmouth's 4-0 defeat to Benfica when the players were allowed alcohol for the first time in five days. A Portsmouth spokesperson said: "Both David Nugent and Marc Wilson have been disciplined for a breach of club discipline while on the trip to Portugal. The matter will be dealt with in-house." Portsmouth's season is already in turmol after the club hinted for the first time that their proposed takeover by Sulaiman al Fahim is in doubt after admitting they may be forced to sell players if the deal does not go through. It follows a leaked email from chief executive Peter Storrie to a supporter in which he candidly disclosed that Portsmouth had been without any finance for the past nine months and needed new players and a new stadium. Al Fahim remains committed to completing his proposed takeover of Portsmouth as soon as possible, the club said in a statement last night. The switch in ownership to Al Fahim from Alexandre Gaydamak looked all set to proceed after the former passed the Premier League's 'fit and proper person' test. Delays have cast doubt on whether the deal will go through, but the south-coast club insist everything remains on course.
