Portsmouth confirm Brian Kidd will not return as Paul Hart's right-hand man

Brian Kidd will not return to his role of assistant manager at Portsmouth this season, boss Paul Hart has confirmed.   Kidd worked alongside Hart from February last season and helped keep Pompey in the Barclays Premier League.  But Hart appeared on BBC Radio Solent earlier today to announce that Kidd will not be back because of the distance from his home in the north west.  'He did a great job for me after turning down a number of other jobs. But he's a family man and Manchester is a long way,' Hart said.   Kidd spent the bulk of his coaching career with Manchester United, working under Sir Alex Ferguson after moving to Old Trafford from Preston in 1991.   After a short time in charge at Blackburn, he later became an assistant to Sven-Goran Eriksson in the England set-up before a spell at Sheffield United.  Hart said that no replacement has yet been lined up.
