Portsmouth can make £3.2m from FA Cup success but still lose out on Europe

Portsmouth's heroics in reaching the FA Cup final may have provided the club with a much-needed boost but they are not out of trouble yet. [LNB]Sportsmail answers your questions about their future and the implications for Avram Grant's side in reaching their second final in three years...[LNB] End of the road? Portsmouth manager Avram Grant celebrates victory in the FA Cup semi-final, but may not get the chance to lead his players into Europe next season[LNB]Do Portsmouth have any chance of being allowed to play in Europe next season after reaching the FA Cup final? [LNB]Under normal circumstances they would qualify for the Europa League as final opponents Chelsea will play in the Champions League next season. But they missed the FA's March 1 deadline to apply for the UEFA licence. The application process is handled by the FA on behalf of UEFA, whose deadline is not until May 31, but the FA are adamant Portsmouth will miss out. [LNB]Even if the FA relax their stance, the club would not be given a licence while they are in administration. Administrator Andrew Andronikou is confident the club will be out of administration by mid-May and intends to present evidence to the FA to demonstrate that. He said: 'The people we have got to convince first are the FA. We have taken enough punishment from the Premier League and we don't want it to continue. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be able to play in Europe.' [LNB]Final flourish: Frederic Piquionne's goal against Tottenham has earned another Wembley pay day[LNB]So how are Portsmouth going to get out of administration in time? [LNB]By the bid fronted by property developer Rob Lloyd being successful. Lloyd claims he represents a 'sole investor' and, although the identity of the man with the £30million required to buy the club is unknown, proof of funds has been provided and the due diligence process is expected to be completed next week. [LNB]Balu Chainrai, the owner prior to administration, aims to recoup some of the £13.5m he is still owed by renting Fratton Park to the new owners. Parachute payments of £16m a year and £30m from player sales would provide much-needed funds but the Lloyd bid rests on creditors, who are owed about £65m, agreeing to a Company Voluntary Arrangement which would see them recoup only a fraction of their money. [LNB]Will Portsmouth have all their players available for the FA Cup final given the bonus situation? [LNB]Andronikou originally said up to six players may have to miss out because of bonus payments or contract extensions. Michael Kiely, another member of the administration team, is due to meet the players and PFA to discuss the issue. Andronikou is confident any problems can be resolved with the exception of Aruna Dindane as Portsmouth would have to pay Lens £4m if the on-loan striker plays another game.[LNB]Andronikou is hoping a deal can be struck with the French club while other players are prepared to set aside clauses in their contracts. Ricardo Rocha said: 'We don't care about bonuses. We just want to enjoy the final.' Hassan Yebda, on loan from Benfica, added: 'I would sacrifice the money to play in the final. I would be happy to do that.' [LNB]Say Portsmouth win it, how much can they expect to bring in? [LNB]Andronikou estimates that, in total, lifting the FA Cup would be worth £3.2m to Portsmouth. Beating Tottenham in the semi-final has already earned them £900,000 in prize money plus their share of ticket revenue - one quarter of 65 per cent of the net gate receipts from both semi-finals. But Andronikou confirmed none of the 85 staff who were laid off will be reinstated as the club prepare for life in the Championship next season.[LNB] Portsmouth plead for Europa League ticket after FA Cup semi-final triumph Avram's dressing room message inspires victory over TottenhamDream maker!
