[LNB]Leaving: David James[LNB]Portsmouth have accused Stoke of trying to take advantage of their financial crisis over the loan deal involving David James which fell through last week. [LNB]Stoke were set to take over the contract of the England goalkeeper, who earns a reported £65,000 a week. [LNB] But the Potters asked Portsmouth to pay half of James' wages and refused to pay any loan fee. [LNB]Portsmouth executive director Mark Jacob said: 'Negotiations were taking place with Stoke and unfortunately it appears they perhaps sought to take advantage of what is perceived to be our position. [LNB]'They were willing to make a contribution to his wages only and that was to the end of the season, not to the end of his contract. [LNB]'They were the factors the club couldn't agree on and we move on. If he's going on loan to another club and they want him then why should we have to continue contributing towards his wages? [LNB]'David is still here and Avram [Grant] is happy to retain him in the squad.'
