Portsmouth claim comfortable win over 10-man Barnet

Striker Adam McGurk grabbed a controversial goal as Portsmouth continued their unbeaten start with a 3-1 win over 10-man Barnet.

On his first league start of the season, McGurk ignored an offside flag - meant for Kyle Bennett - to slot in, after Andy Yiadom and Conor Chaplin had shared first half goals.

Bees boss Martin Allen's mood wasn't improved when keeper Jamie Stephens was sent off for two yellow cards in the 66th minute - the first for time-wasting, the second for a foul on Bennett.

Yiadom, given a more central role than usual, side footed Barnet into a 25th minute lead against the run of play, after patient work from Mauro Vilhete.

The visitors lead lasted 12 minutes as Chaplin clubbed a finish into the bottom corner, after the defence failed to deal with Gary Roberts' free kick.

Winger Bennett should have Pompey an early second half lead but he smashed over when through one-on-one, but former Burton man McGurk struck in the 54th minute.

Chaplin added gloss to the result in injury time when he finished with aplomb when put through with teenage keeper Kai McKenzie-Lyle.
