Scott Boden on target again as Newport stun Portsmouth

Scott Boden's 15th goal of the season helped Newport to a surprise 3-0 win at Portsmouth that all but secures their League Two safety.

Darren Jones' first-half header put the Exiles ahead and Dean Morgan completed the win with three minutes left.

Jones headed the Exiles in front after 33 minutes, standing strong as goalkeeper Ryan Fulton leapt into him to head home Medy Elito's free-kick from close range.

Pompey's best chance fell to Marc McNulty in first-half injury-time but his close-range effort was saved by Joe Day.

Gary Roberts was sent off for a second yellow card just before the hour mark for diving having picked up his first booking just six minutes earlier for a foul on Elito.

Boden doubled Newport's advantage in the 69th minute. Elito surged down the left to cross for the striker to send his header beyond Fulton.

Morgan sealed the three points with three minutes remaining, tapping in at the back post from Mark Byrne's cross from the right.
