Pompey weigh up Zaki move

Amr Zaki's agent claims to be in contact with Portsmouth regarding a summer switch for his client. The Egypt international spent last season on loan at Wigan, enduring mixed fortunes during his time in England. A bright start to the 2008/09 campaign bode well, and led to reports that some of Europe's top clubs were tracking his progress. However, a mid-season slump in form and a public falling out with manager Steve Bruce damaged his profile. He has since returned to parent club Zamalek, with the Latics unwilling to make his loan switch permanent. TalksZaki has been linked with clubs in Italy and Spain since then, but nothing has materialised as yet. Pompey, who have sold last season's top scorer Peter Crouch to Tottenham, are desperate to bolster their numbers and it appears that they have indentified Zaki as a potential option. "Negotiations have been ongoing for the last three days to sign Amr on loan," said the African ace's representative Nadir Sawqi. While Sawqi claims talks with Portsmouth are already underway, Zamalek board member Sabri Serag has offered a contrasting view. He claims the Premier League club have made no contact with the 26-year-old and are yet to lodge an offer for the player. "No offers were made for Zaki. Not from Portsmouth or any other side," Serag told FilGoal.com.
