Pompey Sign Michalik
Yet another defender arrives at Fratton Park.
Michael Appleton has added another centre back to his squad as Slovakian Lubomir Michalik has signed a one-month deal with Pompey.
Fans may recognise the name as he once graced the Premier League with Bolton and has also played for Leeds and Carlisle, where he won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy in 2011.
The 29-year-old is eligible to play in tomorrow's game with Walsall, so Pompey fans should get the opportunity to run the rule over him.
The Pompey manager has stated his need to bring a striker into the club along with another defender, and he has told the local news today he may have to sacrifice either Kevin Long or Connor Clifford to free up a loan space in his squad to accomodate a forward player as the club currently has only two recognised strikers on the books.
For me, it's a no-brainer. Long may have made a few mistakes but he is a first-team player, is capable of some excellent tackles and is a tall, commanding centre back.
On the other hand, Clifford has barely seen any game time, is more of a squad player and doesn't seem to offer anything special to the team when he does come off the bench.
If anyone should be returned to their parent club it should be him.
