Portsmouth have moved quickly to distance themselves from rumours linking Mauro Zarate with a summer switch to Fratton Park.
The 21-year-old Argentinian scored four goals in 14 appearances during a loan spell with Birmingham City in the last four months of the season just ended.
He is currently contracted to Al-Saad of Qatar who are believed to want £10million for the highly-rated youngster.
However, Pompey's chief executive Peter Storrie insists Zarate will not be coming to the South Coast, saying: "It's absolute rubbish. I don't know where this has come from.
"He isn't one we're looking at, without a doubt. There's no truth in these rumours at all. This is complete and utter rubbish."
Meanwhile, the agent of Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul claims Pompey are interested in signing the 22-year-old.
Rudy Raba insisted: "Portsmouth have called Tottenham and now we're waiting for them to respond."
