Pompey on song to down Fusion

Portsmouth secured the first win of their North American tour with a 2-1 win over Ventura County Fusion in California. Striker David Nugent clinched victory for Pompey when he curled home a fine free-kick in the 76th minute. Marlon Pack put Portsmouth ahead in the 18th minute, tapping home a rebound following a shot from Matt Ritchie. Ventura equalised through Hakop Avesyan, but Pompey regained control and after Ritchie had won a free-kick with 14 minutes left, Nugent curled the ball into the top corner.
