Pompey join Lauren race

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has joined the race to sign Lauren after confirming his interest in the Arsenal defender.
Pompey, who have already lured former Arsenal stars Sol Campbell and Nwankwo Kanu to Fratton Park, have agreed a fee in the region of £1.5million with the Gunners and Redknapp is hoping to persuade the Cameroon international to move to the South Coast.
The 30-year-old has recently returned to action after spending 12 months on the sidelines with knee ligament damage and has been linked with a transfer window move to West Ham.
"It is just a matter of where he wants to go," revealed Redknapp.
"We know West Ham are going to have a really hard try for him but so will we.
"He may have a few other clubs interested in him as well, but players of his ability don't become available very often and I would be delighted to get Lauren.
"I have spoken to both Sol Campbell and Kanu who were with him at Arsenal and they both rate him as top-class. He is and would be a fantastic addition to our squad."
