Pompey give cup final promise
20 Apr 2010 - 12:28:26
Administrator Andrew Andronikou is adamant that none of Portsmouth's leading players will be sold before next month's FA Cup Final against Chelsea.
Championship-bound Pompey are in administration and were recently given permission by the Premier League to sell players outside of the normal transfer windows.
Nadir Belhadj, Kevin-Prince Boateng and teenage defender Leonard Sowah are three players who have been linked with moves away from Fratton Park in recent weeks.
However, Andronikou has assured fans that the squad available to manager Avram Grant for the club's second cup final appearance in the space of three seasons will not be weakened.
"There will be absolutely no sales before the cup final - I can assure supporters of that," he told The News.
"It's going to be difficult enough without looking to offload players, so that is something not on our agenda.
"There is a core half-a-dozen players attracting interest. I have also already had a few enquiries about Lenny Sowah. They are purely enquiries at the moment.
"The agents have been told to take note of any offers, but not to bring them to us at this moment in time.
"We will look at the situation after the final game of the season - not before."
