Pompey fail with Crouch bid

Liverpool have reportedly rejected a bid believed to be in the region of £9million from Portsmouth for Peter Crouch.
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp is a keen admirer of the unsettled 27-year-old, who has admitted he may look to move on from Anfield this summer in search of greater first-team opportunities.
Redknapp has previously suggested that his Liverpool counterpart Rafael Benitez is asking too much for the England international and has now seen a £9million bid rejected.
Crouch spent one season at Portsmouth six years ago under Redknapp, before moving on to Aston Villa, Southampton and then the Reds in 2005.
"I'd love to bring Crouchie back here," Redknapp told the Portsmouth News.
"We are trying to do deals to bring in players and (chief executive) Peter Storrie is working on trying to get things done.
"But the fee seems a bit too high and at the end of the day it comes down to the price.
"It seems like things are getting a bit too expensive.
"Crouchie is a player who is on our list, but if nothing can be done then we will just move on to the next player."
