Portsmouth have sent injured striker David Nugent to see a hernia specialist in Germany.

The England striker picked up the problem during the first half of last weekend's 2-1 FA Cup fourth round victory over Plymouth Argyle and is expected to miss at least the next four weeks.

Nugent will now see the same specialist that injury-plagued Newcastle United striker Michael Owen consulted over his own hernia problem earlier this season.

The 22-year-old will travel to Germany to see Ulrike Muschaweck and discover whether he requires surgery.

"He's flying off to Munich, we'll see what the specialist says and take course of action from there," Pompey physio Gary Sadler told the club's official website.

Nugent has started just four Premier League games for the South Coast club following his £6million move from Preston North End.
