Portsmouth have dismissed reports which suggested they were keen to sign Sweden midfielder Freddie Ljungberg.
Ljungberg is a free agent following his decision to leave West Ham United after just one season, but chief executive Peter Storrie claims Pompey have no interest in signing the former Arsenal midfielder.
Instead they are hoping that former Barcelona midfielder Thiago Motta will accept a contract with the south coast club.
The Brazilian midfielder is currently training with Pompey as he looks to prove his fitness following knee surgery last season.
"Ljungberg will not be coming, definitely not," Storrie told The News. "We have no interest in him.
"Motta is here at the moment and we are having at look at him.
"He's been having medicals to see how he is and we will take it from there."
