Pompey deny Diarra reports
09 Jun 2008 - 15:09:01
Portsmouth have rubbished reports suggesting that midfielder Lassana Diarra is set to join Tottenham Hotspur.
The France international only arrived at Fratton Park in a £5million switch from Arsenal in January, but has been linked with a further move to White Hart Lane.
However, Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie claims the reports are wide of the mark and that the former Chelsea player will still be at the south coast club next season.
"I've been at the Premier League meeting and have been with representatives of all the clubs," he told The News.
"I had dinner with Daniel Levy from Spurs. If they were interested in Lassana Diarra, I think he may have mentioned something!
"Being that I'm up at this meeting with Spurs I might have had an insight into that.
"Lassana is one of our most important players and only arrived at the club in January.
"He is not for sale and that is the end of it."
Meanwhile, Portsmouth have distanced themselves from talk of a potential move for Juventus' former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira.
"We are being linked to one big name after another and it is bound to happen but we are still not commenting."
