Pompey confirm job cuts
10 Mar 2010 - 17:57:30
A raft of redundancies have been made by Portsmouth's administrators as the scale of the club's financial problems start to become reality.
No fewer than 85 people have lost their jobs, although no players have been made redundant.
Administrator Andrew Andronikou explained that no players would lose their jobs as they were the "shop window" to finding a potential buyer.
Pompey became the first Premier League club to enter administration last month but HMRC has been seeking a winding-up order against the club which is due in the High Court on Monday 15 March.
Revenues and customs officials have challenged the terms of the club's administration and are unhappy with Andronikou's appointment.
Some members of staff who have been kept on have agreed to work fewer hours while others may have to agree to salary deferrals and "one or two" players have offered to take pay cuts.
Chief executive Peter Storrie has taken a 40 per cent wage cut but has kept his job. He said last month that he would prefer to remain at Fratton Park until a new owner had been found.
