Pompey allow Gekas to leave

Reports suggest that Greece international Theofanis Gekas has left Portsmouth after falling out with boss Paul Hart.

The 28-year-old made only one substitute appearance for Pompey during his loan spell at Fratton Park.

Gekas joined the club on the last day of the January transfer window from Bayer Leverkusen.

It is believed that the striker refused to play against Sunderland on Monday, the latest in a series of bust-ups with the club.

He twice refused to turn out for the reserves and also publicly criticised Hart.

Meanwhile, Jermaine Pennant also appears to have played his last game for the club after being left out of the squad for the 3-1 win against the Black Cats.

The 26-year-old has featured in 13 games for Pompey since joining the club in January on loan from Liverpool.

Pennant has been linked with a summer switch to Spanish side Villarreal.
