Pompey: No offers for James
02 Sep 2009 - 08:11:21
Portsmouth have revealed that no offers were made for David James after the veteran goalkeeper ended transfer deadline day still at Fratton Park.
Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with a move for the England international, but James will now spend at least the next four months with the south coast club.
The 39-year-old keeper was reported to be the subject of a £5million bid from current Spurs and former Pompey boss Harry Redknapp.
However, Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie has denied receiving any bids for the experienced shot-stopper.
"He's still here," Storrie told Sky Sports News. "Obviously there was a lot of talk about David but we didn't have any direct offers for him.
"I think a lot of it was done from David and from his agents.
"There was, I think, some interest from Tottenham, but nothing that moved into any bids."
