Pompey to go budget shopping as new owner snubs galactico signings

Portsmouth's new owner, Sulaiman Al Fahim, will fund five signings in this transfer window... but fans can forget about a galacticos era. Al Fahim had claimed none of the word's biggest stars were beyond Manchester City's grasp when he fronted Abu Dhabi United Group's takeover last year. But survival is Pompey's priority and his new club are setting their sights a little lower. Ivory Coast striker Aruna Dindane is set to conclude his £4million move from Lens, and Sunderland's Nyron Nosworthy is likely to follow the £2m signing of Tommy Smith from Watford. The club have also tabled a £1.5m bid for Watford defender Mike Williamson and £2m for Vitoria de Guimaraes's Nuno Assis. Club captain Sylvain Distin joined the exodus of big names when he completed his move to Everton but Al Fahim is confident Pompey will rally under manager Paul Hart. 'Paul is a big part of this club and and I have very high regard for him. 'I hope there is unity throughout the club from now on.'
