Pompey takeover inches closer

Sky Sports News understands Portsmouth's takeover by Sulaiman Al Fahim has moved a step closer after due diligence was completed. The proposed takeover has been going on for a number of weeks with rumours that the deal could fall through. Al Fahim's advisor Ivo Ilic Gabara has confirmed to Sky Sports News that the due diligence process has been completed, allowing the takeover to move ever closer. Al Fahim is also undergoing the Premier League's fit-and-proper-person investigation and that is expected to be concluded in the next two weeks The news will be a boost for Portsmouth as they look to prepare for the new season as the club are yet to appoint a permanent manager and had only 15 players attend the start of pre-season training.
