Portsmouth have confirmed the release of five players but Nwankwo Kanu and Sol Campbell could land new deals. Noe Pamarot, Lauren, Djimi Traore, Glen Little and Jerome Thomas have all left the club after their contracts expired. However, experienced striker Kanu is in talks over a one-year extension while discussions with defender Campbell could be in the offing. Pompey executive chairman Peter Storrie told the club's official website: "Kanu has the option of another year, which he is considering. "There are not any discussions going on with Sol at the moment. In terms of whether there will be further discussions, we'll look at that next week." The South Coast outfit are currently waiting for prospective owner Sulaiman Al Fahim to be given the green light to complete his takeover. Pompey are without a manager at present and will no doubt be keen for the takeover to be pushed through so that preparations for next season can get underway.
