Trevor Birch has confirmed that Portsmouth FC is to receive £150,000 it is owed by Genoa from the sale of Kevin-Prince Boateng in the summer of 2010.
Pompey will get the money through installments to be paid by April, which will help keep the club going. Birch has also brought in the FA to chase around £100,000 owed by AEK Athens and Kayserispor for the transfers of Papa Bouba Diop and Nadir Cifci respectively.
However, Birch still isn't certain that money will be certain for Pompey to see the season out, despite £800,000 given to the club early by the Football League.
Therefore, even if Pompey were to finish the season it is unlikely that the club would survive through the summer due to lack of income. It looks if so the only options are to find a buyer or to allow Balram Chainrai to "rescue" the club again.
Birch claims that there are owners who are "interested" - but just how interested is anyone's guess. If Chainrai does return, it will signal another cycle of relegation struggles and more financial woe that will simply end in ruin anyway.
With no assets and a huge amount of (increasing) debt, no businessman with any sense is going to buy the club. I can only hope Trevor Birch is a miracle worker, because it would take something special to persuade someone with no affiliation with previous regimes to take a chance on Pompey.
I honestly can't see that happening and this club is likely to die in the summer whether it be liquidated or used by Chainrai as a lifeless shell in the faint hope that he will get "his" money back.
