Pompey preparations hit by injuries

Portsmouth's already threadbare squad has been hit by a spate of injuries on their pre-season tour of North America and Canada. Defender Richard Hughes is struggling with a tight thigh and midfielder Hayden Mullins has a sore knee ahead of Wednesday night's friendly against Edmonton. Winger Tommy Smith is also a doubt with a hip problem, and with youngsters Pete Gregory, Billy Goddard and Joel Ward still receiving treatment boss Steve Cotterill had just 13 outfield players available for their latest training session. Pompey's financial situation meant they travelled with only six senior players, plus eight teenagers and trialists Jamie Ashdown, Stephen Jordan and Jon Stewart.
