Pompey pounce for Piquionne

Portsmouth have captured Lyon striker Frederic Piquionne on a season-long loan deal. Lyon revealed last week that Piquionne was attracting interest from England after a quiet first year at Stade Gerland. The French club also revealed they would be prepared to sell Piquionne after bringing in Lisandro Lopez from Porto. But it is a loan agreement that has now been struck with Pompey as Paul Hart looks to bolster his attacking options. Portsmouth also have an exclusive option to buy the 30-year-old, who can operate out wide as well as up front. Hart has had limited funds at his disposal this summer as Sulaiman Al Fahim strives to complete his takeover at Fratton Park. Portsmouth have also had to sell a couple of key players, including Peter Crouch, leaving Hart short in attack.
