Pompey owner backs management

// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Portsmouth's new owner Sulaiman Al Fahim has given his full backing to manager Paul Hart and chief executive Peter Storrie.[LNB] Since completing his takeover last week, the new owner has said he has every confidence in his manager Hart and chief executive Storrie to keep Pompey in the Premier League.[LNB]Despite a poor start, which has seen the club rooted to the bottom of the table with just one goal and no points from four matches, Al Fahim has no plans to bring in his own management team.[LNB]"I asked Paul to accept the role as Pompey's manager shortly after I was appointed chairman," Al Fahim told The Times.[LNB]"I continue to have great confidence in Paul's ability to steer the club through the challenges ahead.[LNB]Negotiations"Peter (Storrie) is a capable chief executive and I do not doubt that he has acted with the club's best interest in mind.[LNB]"I decided that it was in the best interest of the club to take over the full 100 per cent, but was kept fully aware of all relevant activity throughout the course of negotiations.[LNB]"I was kept fully informed about the transfer dealings and have been consulted on all decisions affecting the club since becoming its owner," he added.[LNB]In a difficult year for Portsmouth which has seen the club offload first-team players Glen Johnson, Peter Crouch, Sylvain Distin and Niko Kranjcar, to balance the books, Al Fahim has promised fans he plans to invest in improving the club's first-team squad, their Fratton Park ground and youth academy.[LNB]"We have a clear plan to strengthen the club's foundations and lay the basis for its development," he said.[LNB]"To achieve this I would anticipate significant investment in the club's infrastructure, retention of players and the signing of new talent.[LNB]"To ensure the growth of the club's home-grown talent, we will invest in the youth academy, which is vital for any major club's stable progress."[LNB]
