Pompey physio Steve Allen has taken the role of assistant manager at Portsmouth.
The 48-year-old will continue to do his duties in his role of "head of sports performance" but will now assist Guy Whittingham in his managerial duties having already obtained his coaching qualifications.
Having been at Pompey since 2010 when Steve Cotterill was appointed as manager and having helped Guy with his off-field duties since January this appointment makes sense. A good assistant manager cannot be underestimated these days.
Whittingham's next job is now to appoint a first team coach amongst all of the other things he has been doing since the season ended. He has been a very busy man!
