Portsmouth have made a bid to sign Egyptian star Amr Zaki, skysports.com understands. The 26-year-old striker is currently back in his homeland with Zamalek, having spent last season on loan at Wigan. He made a huge impact in the first part of the season, before falling out with the club and he returned home without a permanent deal. The likes of Aston Villa, Liverpool and Real Madrid all showed a strong interest last year, but now the player could be offered a route back to Europe by Portsmouth. Pompey, through new owner Sulaiman Al Fahim, now have some money to spend and they are believed to have lodged a £3million offer for Zaki. They are now in talks with Zamalek and are hopeful of concluding a deal before Tuesday's transfer deadline.
