Portsmouth have reached an agreement with Anthony Vanden Borre which will see the youngster move to England. The 21-year-old is currently on the books of Italian outfit Genoa, but will move to Fratton Park on a season-long loan deal. Pompey will then have the option to buy the Belgium international next summer should he impress over the course of the 2009/10 campaign. Vanden Borre could go straight into Paul Hart's squad for Saturday's season opener against Fulham, providing he is granted international clearance. The full-back, who made his international debut at 16, will offer Pompey some much-needed versatility in the season ahead. "Vanden Borre is signing today and we have another few signings in mind," said Hart. "He's young and a Belgian international. I think he's at the stage where he's threatened to do so much for such a long time that now he's got to come up with the goods and we're looking forward to being part of it. "He played right-back last night (Wednesday) for his country and can play right side of midfield as well. "His versatility is one of the biggest things that attracted me to him." Meanwhile, Hart has also confirmed that Kanu is close to penning a new one-year contract. The Nigeria international is currently a free agent after seeing his previous deal expire, but he has been offered new terms after spending the summer training with the club.
