Burnley have been given the go-ahead by Portsmouth to sign striker David Nugent in the January transfer window.
Nugent, 24, has impressed during his short loan-spell with the Clarets and Burnley boss Owen Coyle is keen to sign him on a permanent basis in the New Year, reports The Sun.
Burnley chairman Barry Kilby said: 'We're in discussions with Owen now to see what we can do.
'We're sitting down and seeing where we can strengthen. 'I think Davidwould come here like a shot and we'd like him here but we'd have tonegotiate with Portsmouth when his deal is up.'
