Pompey get green light to sign trio

Portsmouth have been given special dispensation by the Football League to sign up to three players despite being under a transfer embargo.[LNB] The Championship side is currently in administration and under a transfer embargo until an appeal is heard but, as the club are now three players below the minimum squad size of 20, the Football League have stepped into help.[LNB]Ibrahima Sonko has already agreed to join the club on a season-long loan, while Jamie Ashdown, who was previously released by the Pompey, and trialist Stephen Jordan are also on manager Steve Cotterill's radar.[LNB]A Football League spokesman told The Portsmouth News: "The Football League is working with the club to help it reduce its wage bill.[LNB]"As part of this process, it has given the club permission to bring in replacement players on a case-by-case basis."
