Paul Hart saluted an 'excellent' performance from Portsmouth following the 2-1 victory over Everton but refused to get carried away about his side's chances of beating the drop.[LNB] Pompey fell behind against David Moyes' European hopefuls when Leighton Baines scored with a stunning free-kick after just four minutes.[LNB]However, they recovered well to take three points thanks to a brace from Peter Crouch, and Hart was delighted with the display.[LNB]"After a poor start, I thought we were excellent," Hart told Sky Sports.[LNB]"We were all over the place but we got it together, composed ourselves, and started to play."[LNB]Crouch praiseHart had been under no illusions about the size of the challenge facing Pompey and he was thrilled with the character of his men, singling Crouch out for particular praise.[LNB]He said: "I have seen this boy since he was 16 and I've nothing but admiration for him. He plays at the sharp end of the team and he does a great job.[LNB]"People don't know how big this game was for us. Everton have been beaten something like once in 18 games so it shows you the task we had and I thought we were excellent."[LNB]The result gave Pompey a cushion above the bottom three but Hart accepts that they are still a long way from securing safety.[LNB]"I am more confident than I was prior to the game but it's going to be a long haul and to think we have cracked it would show complacency," he explained.[LNB]"We have a lot to do."[LNB]
