Pompey crisis deepens as strugglers fail to pay players' wages once again
Avram Grant and his Portsmouth players were at breaking point on Tuesday night after the club reneged on a promise to pay them by 4pm.[LNB]Team spirit has been strong at Fratton Park despite the mounting financial problems but amounted to a new low when Grant's employers failed to meet their own deadline extension.[LNB]After failing to pay the players on time for the third successive month on December 31, the club made assurances that the situation would be resolved on Tuesday.[LNB] Hard times: Portsmouth players have not been paid once more[LNB]Grant was even asked to provide those assurances personally, butdeclined for fear it could damage his relationship with the players.[LNB]But on Tuesday night sources at Portsmouth said Grant and hisplayers had lost all confidence in owner Ali Al Faraj and the board,with morale damaged further by the prospect of losing Jamie O'Hara,whose loan spell runs out next week, because of the Premier League'srefusal to lift their registration embargo.[LNB]Troubles: Boss Avram Grant[LNB]'The club has shown a complete lack of class,' said one dressing room insider.
