Pompey confirm Smith move hitch

Portsmouth have confirmed that the Football League has not sanctioned forward Tommy Smith's proposed transfer to Queens Park Rangers.[LNB] The two Championship clubs had hoped to have agreed a permanent deal for the 30-year-old on transfer deadline day last week.[LNB]But the Football League has not approved the move and Portsmouth have stated that this is due to 'administrative issues outside the Blues' control'.[LNB]Cash-strapped Portsmouth are now planning to loan Smith to QPR in the approaching emergency loan window ahead of a full-time deal in January.[LNB]A short statement on the Fratton Park club's official website read: "The Football League have rejected the permanent transfer of Tommy Smith from Pompey to QPR due to administrative issues outside the Blues' control. [LNB]"The two clubs are now working to bring the player to Loftus Road on a loan basis in time for QPR's fixture against Middlesbrough on Saturday, ahead of a permanent transfer in January."
