Pompey close to takeover

Abu Dhabi billionaire Sulaiman Al Fahim is finally set to complete his takeover of Portsmouth in the next few weeks, according to reports in the Middle East. Al Fahim is expected to meet with fans at the Portsmouth Football Supporters Club in London on 11th July when he will outline his plans for the club. Al Fahim is a board member of the Abu Dhabi United Group which bought Manchester City last year but the Dubai-born businessman has no position on the Eastlands board. The 32-year-old has said that negotiations are 'in process' but it is believed that Al Fahim is hopeful that a deal could be concluded by early July. If the deal does go through Pompey will become the second Premier League side in just under a year to be taken over by UAE based investment groups, after Manchester City, with more set to follow suit.
