Pompey chief agrees double deal

Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill has agreed deals to sign goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown and defender Stephen Jordan.[LNB] Ashdown is re-signing for the club having been released at the end of last season and defender Jordan is a free agent after leaving Burnley.[LNB]Pompey are currently under a transfer embargo but were given special dispensation to sign three players by the Football League and have already brought in Ibrahima Sonko on loan from Stoke.[LNB]Cotterill is now hoping the deals for Ashdown and Jordan go through in time for Saturday's season opener at Coventry.[LNB]"We've agreed terms with Jamie and Stephen - now it is about making sure we can lodge the contracts," Cotterill told The News.[LNB]"That will be with the Football League and everything is in their hands now. We've done all we can on that one, all we can do now is sit and wait. Hopefully we'll get the green light and the pair of them can be in the frame for Coventry."
