Pennant puts future on hold

On-loan winger Jermaine Pennant has put his future on hold until the summer as he looks to help Portsmouth avoid relegation.

The Liverpool midfielder has made six appearances for Pompey since arriving at Fratton Park in January.

But despite uncertainty surrounding his long-term future at Anfield, the former Arsenal and Birmingham starlet is not looking past his task of helping keep the struggling south coast club in the Premier League.

"It's too early to think about staying beyond the summer at the moment," he told the Portsmouth News.

"I have got more important things to think about than me staying or going.

"I have got a job to do here to try to keep Portsmouth in the Premier League.

"If I do that, then I can think about my future afterwards.

"I always knew we would be in a relegation battle and every game is going to be a cup final now."
