Paul Hart set to be named Sheffield United manager

Fresh challenge: Hart is set to join the Blades Sheffield United are poised to appoint Paul Hart as their new manager. Hart, who was previously boss of Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, Portsmouth and QPR, is set to take charge next week. He was interviewed for the job after Doncaster's Sean O'Driscoll turned down the chance to succeed Gary Speed at Bramall Lane. Speed took charge of the Championship outfit in the summer but left earlier this month to become the new manager of Wales. His managerial debut was far from outstanding though and he left Yorkshire with the club hovering just above the relegation zone. They sit in 20th place in the table after losing their last two games to Hull and Norwich. The Blades have also been given permission to speak to Port Vale manager Micky Adams but it is understood Hart had already been told he would land the post if O' Driscoll rejected the offer.  Norwich 4 Sheffield United 2: Hoolahan blunts Blades with terrific trebleSean O'Driscoll underlines commitment to Doncaster with public snub of Sheffield UnitedSheffield United 2 Hull 3: Blunt Blades fall to Jay Simpson's double billWales job was impossible to turn down, admits new boss Speed  Explore more:People: Gary Speed, Sean O'Driscoll Places: Norwich, Wales
