Pamarot targets Europe
13 Apr 2007 - 09:39:20
Portsmouth defender Noe Pamarot insists the club's faltering European ambitions are still very much alive.
Pompey's hopes of forcing their way into the UEFA Cup qualifying places for next season had received a massive boost with last weekend's surprise 2-1 win over Manchester United.
But their hard work against the league leaders was undone following a 4-2 defeat at the hands of bottom club Watford on Easter Monday.
However, despite Pompey currently occupying ninth place in the table, Pamarot remains positive that European football for next season could still be on the cards.
"We still think we can do it but we have to get the results, no matter who we are playing," admitted the former Tottenham defender.
"We have some hard games but the thing is they are home games. You never know what can happen at Fratton Park.
"We are strong there and have had some good results, just look at Manchester United. They had lost only twice in the league before that.
"At home we just feel so strong. The crowd are noisy, it's our ground, our pitch and we feel we can always win.
"Teams don't like coming here you can see that. It puts them off and can affect them. We like it, though.
"Fratton Park will help us and we have to carry on like we performed against Manchester United. Hopefully we can get something from the games left."
